Dance and Play is an exciting introduction to the dance world for both you and your child, and a wonderful first step into the TDC family!
This class is designed specifically for 3-year-old dancers and runs from September to the end of April. It offers a gentle, joyful entry into the studio environment with:
Please note:
Dance and Play is an in-studio participation only program. This class does not participate in competitions (Dance Experience) or Recital.
Tiny Tots is an exciting and energetic class designed for dancers aged 3 to 4 years old! This 45-minute weekly class combines both ballet and hip hop, giving your child a fun and engaging introduction to two dynamic dance styles—all in one time slot!
At the end of the season, all Tiny Tot dancers will participate in Dance Experience and/or Recital, showcasing what they've learned!
Ballet is the foundation of all dance. It teaches poise, grace, self-confidence, and discipline—qualities that dancers carry with them not only through their dance journey but throughout life.
At TDC, we follow the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) syllabus, offering:
Dancers enrolled in both a regular and exam ballet class may be invited to begin pointe work once they demonstrate the required strength, technique, and maturity.
Ballet and pointe at TDC support both recreational dancers and those pursuing advanced opportunities.
Note: Starting at age 10, ballet becomes a prerequisite for enrolling in Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, and Pointe classes. A solid ballet foundation is essential for success and safety in these styles.
Tap is a fun and energetic style where your feet become the instrument, creating rhythms and sounds with every step! This genre helps dancers develop a strong sense of musicality, timing, and coordination.
At TDC, we follow the Canadian Dance Teachers Association (CDTA) syllabus, with the option to take exams.
It’s recommended that students begin tap at a young age to develop foundational skills.
Note: TDC does not enroll new tap students who are 12 years or older.
Jazz is a dynamic and athletic dance style that builds strength, flexibility, and performance energy. It’s upbeat, expressive, and a favorite for dancers who love to move with power and style.
At TDC, we follow the Canadian Dance Teachers Association (CDTA) syllabus, with the option to take exams.
Ballet is a necessary foundation for jazz, and becomes a prerequisite starting in the Inter A Program.
Acro Dance is a unique style that blends classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements, resulting in a powerful and graceful performance style.
We are proud to have two of our own instructors, Dana Mutimer and Chelsea Edwards, who are CDTA certified in Acro Dance!
Acro is perfect for dancers who love to move, flip, and challenge themselves in exciting new ways!
Hip Hop is a high-energy, expressive style rooted in street dance and hip-hop culture. Dancers explore a wide range of movements including breaking, popping, locking, levels, and tricks, all set to upbeat and contemporary music.
In addition to our regular Hip Hop classes, TDC offers an exclusive Boys Hip Hop class for boys ages 6–12—a space just for them to move, learn, and express!
Modern dance is an expressive and interpretive style that blends contemporary movement with theatrical elements, using the entire body to convey abstract ideas and emotions through dance.
Ballet is a necessary foundation for modern dance, and becomes a prerequisite starting in the Inter A Program.
Lyrical dance is a beautiful fusion of ballet, jazz, and contemporary techniques, performed to music with meaningful lyrics that inspire expressive and emotionally driven movement.
Ballet is a necessary foundation for lyrical, and becomes a prerequisite starting in the Inter A Program.
The Strength & Conditioning (S&C) class is designed to help dancers grow in a focused and supportive environment. This class targets turnout, flexibility, core strength, and overall conditioning, providing essential support for all dance disciplines.
TDC offers the S&C class as the schedule allows. Availability may vary each season.
Recreational Hip Hop & Jazz is a fun, relaxed 30-minute class that blends the energy of hip hop with the technique and style of jazz—perfect for dancers who want to stay active and enjoy movement without the pressure of performance.
This is the perfect class for students who want to dance for fun, fitness, and friendship!
Each season, TDC offers a unique combination of dance genres based on instructor availability and student interest. Be sure to check the current studio schedule to see which classes are being offered this year!
