FEES & POLICIES

FEES

Yearly Registration Fee

$30

Each dance student is required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of $30.00 per year.

This fee helps cover administrative costs and secures your dancer’s spot in class for the season.

Competition/Festival

$25 - $30

Competition and Festival entry fees will be billed to your account in January or February, after entries have been finalized.

  • Entry fees are typically $25.00–$30.00 per student, per entry.

  • These fees vary depending on the event and number of routines a dancer is participating in.

* Please Note: These fees are separate from class tuition and costume deposits.

We’ll keep you updated with details and due dates as the season progresses!

Solo/Duet/Trio

$65 / Hour

 Fee: $65.00 per hour-long lesson

Payment: Due at the beginning of each lesson

Paid directly to the choreographer

These sessions are scheduled separately from regular classes and are a great opportunity for personalized choreography and coaching.

Costumes

$75

A $75.00 deposit per dance genre enrolled in (per student) is required on or before Registration Night.

This deposit helps us get a head start on ordering costumes for recital season!

How it works:

  • If the costume cost is less than $75, the difference will be credited to your account.

  • If the costume cost exceeds $75, the remaining balance will be charged to your account.

* One deposit per genre ensures accurate ordering and budgeting for each class your dancer participates in.

Exam

$225

Class Fee: $225 per exam class (Sept–April/May)

Exam Entry Fee: Billed separately based on the exam board (CDTA or RAD).
Note: Once committed, entry fees are non-refundable—even if the dancer does not take the exam.

Exam Attire

  • Bodysuit, skirt, and shoes: Available for rent – $10/item

  • Tights: Must be purchased (2 pairs recommended)

  • Students may also use their own approved attire.

Payment Info

  • All exam-related fees are billed to your Studio Director account. Full payment due prior to the exam.

Mandatory Fundraising Volunteer Shift Program

Why We Do This

Volunteer Shift Breakdown

Why We Do This

At Tisdale Dance Centre, we run a Mandatory Fundraising Volunteer Shift Program each year. This program is an essential part of keeping our studio running smoothly and ensuring our dancers have access to the best opportunities.

How It Works

Volunteer Shift Breakdown

Why We Do This

Each family is required to complete a specific number of volunteer shift credits based on the number and type of classes, solos/duets/trios, or exams their dancer is registered in.

  • Each volunteer shift is approximately 2–2.5 hours.
  • The primary opportunity to complete these shifts is during Dance Experience, our 3–5 day dance festival hosted right here in Tisdale.
  • We use Sign Up Genius for volunteer sign-up and scheduling.
  • Unfulfilled shift requirements will result in a $75 charge per missed shift.

Volunteer Shift Breakdown

Volunteer Shift Breakdown

Volunteer Shift Breakdown

  • 2 shifts per genre
  • 2 shifts per Tiny Tots
  • 2 shifts per Tiny Tap
  • 2 shifts per Dance & Play
  • 2 shifts per ballet/pointe exam
  • 1 shift per acro/tap/jazz exam
  • 1 shift per solo/duet/trio extra entries
  • 0 shifts for Recreational Jazz/Hip Hop

Examples

Tracking Your Volunteer Shifts

Volunteer Shift Breakdown

  • Dancer takes jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical + ballet duet:
    → 4 genres × 2 shifts = 8 shifts
    → 1 duet = 1 shift
    → Total: 9 shifts

  • Dancer takes a combined beginner ballet/jazz class:
    → 2 genres × 2 shifts = 4 shifts

  • Dancer takes jazz, ballet & tap + ballet & tap exams:
    → 3 genres × 2 shifts = 6 shifts
    → 2 exams = 2 shifts
    → Total: 8 shifts

Very Important!

Tracking Your Volunteer Shifts

Tracking Your Volunteer Shifts

After completing your volunteer shift, please fill out a Volunteer Slip at the studio and place it in the envelope marked “Volunteer Slips.”

Keep a copy for your own records.

If you don’t submit a slip, your hours will not be credited, and you may be charged for unfulfilled shifts.

Tracking Your Volunteer Shifts

Tracking Your Volunteer Shifts

Tracking Your Volunteer Shifts

To help families stay organized and informed, TDC provides a detailed spreadsheet each season outlining the number of mandatory volunteer shifts required per family based on your dancer’s enrollment.

The spreadsheet will be sent out early in the season, so you know how many shifts you are expected to complete.

A Sign Up Genius link will be released closer to Dance Experience, giving you the opportunity to select your preferred volunteer times.

Joining a committee or the studio board is another great way to earn volunteer shift credits—your involvement counts!

Additional Fundraisers

Additional Fundraisers

Additional Fundraisers

Throughout the season, TDC organizes additional fundraisers to support various studio needs and opportunities.

Participation in these fundraisers is completely optional—but always appreciated! Every bit of support helps our dance community thrive.

why take dance exams?

Dance exams are an amazing opportunity for dancers to grow, achieve, and be recognized for their hard work and dedication. While they may sound intimidating at first, they’re designed to build confidence, measure progress, and motivate dancers in a supportive, goal-oriented way.
